Installing the seat covers [2]
After I did both rear seat bottoms, I took on the rear seat back...one large chunk.
Here it is with about half of the hog rings removed.
This is the final edge of the seat back with the cover pulled tight and the hog rings spaced evenly.
Here is the back seat in its entirety. The velour inserts look a lot better than the ragged old vinyl.
Now we're gonna move on to the front seats.
This is the front seat's pivot for the seat back. It's held in place by a circle clip.
They love to disappear when you remove them with a screwdriver. Better have some kids on hand to hunt for them
but keep them out of range of the "Rocky Mountain Cursing." And don't lose the nylon bushings.
I used a deep socket to hammer the clips back on when I was through.
Once the push-in fasteners were removed, I began to remove the old hog rings.
Once the bottom of the cover is removed, the rings have to be removed from the edges and seams. I told you there were a lot of rings.
The cover's off and it's time to spray some of the secret weapon before starting to fit the new cover.
I started by fitting the very top portion of the cover and then folding it down little by little.
Here I'm fastening the seam to the rod in the cushion.
Here I'm trying to wrassle the gator back into the cage.
It takes some pulling and tugging to get the bottom cover flap aligned and fastened.
Here's the finished product...at least the first seatback.
