This is a sequence of images taken of a crash between a Daytona Prototype (DP) car and a Grand Touring (GT) car at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah on Sep 15, 2007.
To make a long story short, on the first lap of the race, the driver of the 31 car (Seth Ingham...final car in the DP pack) slid off track, covered the car
(including the windshield) with dust, refired the motor and blasted back onto the track.
Small problem: apparently he forgot that there was a pack of GT cars that had started the race somewhat delayed...supposedly to help prevent incidents like this.
When he pulled onto the track at what seemed to be full throttle, he got nailed on the left side by the right front corner of Nic Ham's Mazda RX8 GT car.
The Mazda launched, did a complete barrel roll in the air and came back down on the remaining three wheels. The right front had been sheared off, as had the DP's left
side and front corner.
The remainder of the pics show the cleanup and there's a shot of the two drivers walking toward the ambulance together. I bet their conversation was interesting.
If you have further information about this incident, I'd love to hear about it.
