This was the first cruise shot with the new (at the time) Canon Rebel XT. Several things led me to it.
The 35mm film processing was virtually impossible to get done with reasonable quality and speed.
The point 'n shoot was woefully inadequate for racing shoots.
I'd also had a friend come to visit and he had a brand-new Canon.
He let me try a few of its features and I was hooked. I bought one the next day.
It came with an 18-55mm "kit" lens and I also bought a 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens.
To my eye, the difference in image quality between the P'nS and the DSLR was amazing.
I had no idea what I'd been missing. From that point on, it's been a continuous learning experience.
