The sealer and color coat

(03/21/03) Don't panic. This isn't the color coat. It's the white sealer that Troy mixed with 20 percent of the color paint. It's his opinion that it makes the result a lot brighter than gray sealer.

Here's the back of it in the sealer. You can see that he's shot the door jambs as well.

Then the color base coat. It's Corvette torch red.

You get a good view of the door jambs in this pic.

Then he shot the clearcoat.

There's a big difference in the gloss between the base and the clear.
This was all done Friday night and Troy took the pics as he worked.

(03/22/03) Then Saturday morning he brought the car to his house and they started putting it back together. It's really startin to look nice now.
When I dropped by his place to pick up my camera, he told me that as they pulled the Elky out of the paint bay and began to unmask it in the parking lot, a guy in a 67 GTO and another guy in a 70 Chevelle stopped by and made arrangements for their cars to be painted the same color.

Ok...now it's back home. Much better. I felt like a mother who had one of her children taken away for a while.

I still have a lot of detail work to do, but it's come a hell of a long way in just a couple of weeks.

And I had to take a picture of the other side, just to make sure it was the same color.
